Next up are our monster cupcakes. You only need a few decorating supplies to whip up these crazy creatures. Along with a batch of cupcakes and our “Evil” Buttercream Icing, pick up a pack of 16-Inch Decorating Bags, a few couplers a #233 and #20 pastry tip, aqua and green gel food coloring and you are ready to create!

Mix 1/2 of the icing with a few drops of aqua and 1/2 with a few drops of green and stir well. Add a coupler and #20 tip to a pastry bag and fill with one icing color. Cover the top of the cupcake with icing.

Unscrew the coupler and replace the #20 with the #233 pastry tip.

With the tip right up against the cupcake icing, squeeze without lifting the bag until a base of icing comes out of bag then lift and release the bag for a good fur (grass) icing effect. Continue all over the top of the cupcake. If the icing stops coming out, remove the tip, clean it out and continue.

And for our last Monsters-themed DIY, a Surprise Ball. Remind me to tell you the story of how my husband made one of these when he proposed. In any case, here’s how we made our little Monster version. Monsters University Monsters Inc Party

Start with the largest of your prizes, in this case one of the cute rubber finger puppets that comes with the Party pack. and start wrapping a roll of streamers around the outside.
